I’ll Be There

The early summer sunlight touched your face
And spread its golden magic through your hair
Your sleeping smile invited an embrace
And I alone can whisper “I was there”

We fell asleep still wrapped in nothing more
Than all the love and passion we could share
Now sunlight blessed the girl that I adore
And I alone can whisper “I was there”

Your fingers brushed my neck to pull me near
And as we kissed I floated through the air
Your morning call had found its volunteer
And only I can whisper “I was there”

Now once again I see your sleeping eyes
Your angel face adrift without a care
The moment that you breathe your morning sighs
Your ears will hear me whisper “I’ll be there”
