Back to Cricket!

The Oval rings to Sussex playing Surrey
The music of the willow wand in spring
The cricket season sees me in a hurry
To witness all that summertime can bring

When I was young a different band of heroes
Distracted me from studying in school
And opposition batsmen making zeros
Is better than avoiding being a fool

This morning England finished off Sri Lanka
But that was far away, and I am here.
A Surrey win will raise the season’s anchor
And raise my hopes that this could be our year.

The county season starts and all is well
It’s farewell to the winter months of Hell!
