I’m looking for a book that I can read
To while away a summer afternoon
Perhaps a list of “recipes for seed”
Or fantasies of flying round the Moon.

I must insist the volume’s nice and light,
A nest is not the place for heavy weights,
Although I’d love to learn the facts of flight
I’ve never been a fan of great debates.

So if you could suggest a book or two
To titillate a picky feather-brain
I would admit I owe a debt to you
And I’d be sure to use your shop again.

It’s not enough to simply feed your birds,
Their agile minds need good supplies of words!
