The unwanted

As all around is fresh and newly made.
Some spots remain as tatters torn and frayed
Where all that was remains to be relayed
Underneath the surface of the city

With windows barred but broken and uncared
Where wealth for others clearly isn’t shared
And demolition waits the unrepaired
Close beneath the surface of the city

No hope for those who sleep unhoused within
Who need a chance for life to re-begin
Without support from those who seem to win
Just beneath the surface of the city

Homelessness is not all neat and pretty
Unshelterered by the surface of the city

Author notes

It’s very nearly another sonnet.
