The climb

When first we met I did not dare to dream
So far above me, seen from all the land
Dressed in textures smooth as Devon cream
You seemed to me so fine and fresh and grand

Never did I dream that I should climb
And reach the summit of this greatest peak
And gaze from heights across your views sublime
Of which no other man alive can speak

Then you reached out and harvested your crops
Plucked me up between your finger tips
Showed me how to reach the stunning tops
That night I climbed and kissed you on the lips

And softly shone the stars from up above
I laid upon the mountain of your love
