Just a ghost

The ruler of my heart was here today
She spoke to me of nothing much at all
And yet I find my heart is still at play
A tender feeling from a thing so small

The human heart is such a precious prize
And yet we know that ours will never meet
But when I think of what is in her eyes
I’d tie my heart to hers in just one beat

I settle back into my proper state
Just happy loving those who love me too
I’ll never know a love affair so great
But such a life is given to but few

Can any man alive claim that he’s whole
Or is that just a phantom like a soul
