Love is a two way street

Your love alone can guide me through the night
I want to spend a lifetime in your eyes
And all of this has come as great surprise
My life had simply been a compromise
Now the way I feel is much more right

No man alive has seen a sweeter sight
The loving that I see within your face
You fill for me that very special case
You give me ways to see beyond the light

I know that I have lost me in this fight
I’ll never be the man I was before
You are the lady that I must adore
No-one will ever doubt me on that score
I never want to have the least respite

I never want to have the least respite
No-one will ever doubt me on that score
You are the lady that I must adore
I’ll never be the man I was before
I know that I have lost me in this fight

You give me ways to see beyond the light
You fill for me that very special case
The loving that I see within your face
No man alive has seen a sweeter sight

Now the way I feel is much more right
My life had simply been a compromise
And all of this has come as great surprise
I want to spend a lifetime in your eyes
Your love alone can guide me through the night

Author notes

It’s a sonnet, that is it is in approximately iambic pentameter rhymed abbba acca addda. Oh yes and you can read it either way up.
