The ticking and tocking of life

We told life to “stay”, outside the door
We wanted to play and so much more
Life gets in the way, and what is it for
The ticking and tocking of life

Inside the door, just me and you
You on the floor, world just for two
Passion in store, knew what to do
The ticking and tocking of life

Forgetful of trains, life isn’t here
None of the pains, when we are near
Easing all strains, there is nothing to fear
The ticking and tocking of life

No-one else needed, no-one but us
Time isn’t heeded, too late for the bus
Pleasure conceded, without any fuss
The ticking and tocking of life

Time we must go, life can come in
We really know, the day must begin
But it’s nice to show, sometimes you win
The ticking and tocking of life
