The morning after

It’s the morning after the night before
We made love for hour on hour
I’m still in bed in a glorious haze
You said you’d go for a shower
But I see you are standing and looking across
At the sun as it welcomes the day
And I hope in my heart as a love stranded man
That together we’re going to stay
The curve of your body in sweet silhouette
Makes me hope you’re returning to bed
The golden sunlight as it streams through your hair
Makes me long to be holding your head
So I rise and I walk to your side as you gaze
And our arms reach to hold us together
Without any words we look out on the scene
Of the dawn in this marvellous weather
Then we turn to each other, our lips slowly meet
And I no longer need any guess
For while we are kissing as we stand in the sun
Your lips form the single word
