She looked at me the way that lovers do
And there was nothing left for me to say
I only knew that she could not be you
And when you left you took my heart away
She should have been the perfect girl for me
But all I knew was I was dead inside
I needed love like hers to set me free
My liberty was part of me that died
I thought that we were happy with out lives
You showed me how a man can lose it all
I never envied other men their wives
You only held me up so I could fall
I wonder if I’ll ever love again
Or be the butt of jokes of other men
