The little yellow car my daughter drives
Has buzzed us all along the motorway
A noisy pile of us at last arrives
Visiting my in-laws for the day

Margaret and Les wait at the door
To see their daughter and the rest of us
A cup of tea, some biscuits and some more
And lots of chat and not a little fuss

A lunch of cold cuts and another tea
A tour around the garden spotting weeds
More chat and soon its five to three
While Susan and her dad are swapping seeds

A quiet day, with not a lot to do
So I am sitting writing it for you
