Would you ?

Can you count for me the freckles I can cover with a kiss
Or say how I have to woo you so you melt away in bliss

If I pour for you some brandy will you sip it or just smile
Taste the passion in the spirit or just down it cowboy style
When the clouds are lit by sunset do you dream of pirate gold
Do you think a poet’s past it when his rhyming’s getting old
If I slide along a moonbeam would you catch me when I fall
Or just giggle at me bouncing like a children’s rubber ball

Can you count for me the freckles I can cover with a kiss
Or say how I have to woo you so you melt away in bliss

If I dream I catch a mermaid would you dress up in a net
Or pretend the fish released you so I’m left with sad regret
Are you always coy and timid or at heart you’re strong and brave
Would you kiss me in the morning well before I’d had a shave
If each morning I serve breakfast to my lover on a tray
Would you concentrate and eat it or just wolf it down and play

Can you count for me the freckles I can cover with a kiss
Or say how I have to woo you so you melt away in bliss

When you head off to your workplace would you leave me with a will
Or take time to linger longer and to capture one last thrill
If the day is sad and lonely would you snap and let off steam
Or just close your eyes as I do and allow yourself to dream
Would you join me in the garden if the evening’s rather fine
Spend some time discussing poems while the moon is pouring wine

Can you count for me the freckles I can cover with a kiss
Or say how I have to woo you so you melt away in bliss
