The Mountains of the West

I saw such perfect beauty in the west
Where mighty mountains cause a man to smile
I know the peaks I saw were of the best
So I forgot my troubles for a while

Surprises such as these can mend your day
And send you dreams to sooth the darkest night
I wish that I could visit them and stay
And keep such perfect beauty in my sight

Beneath such perfect peaks the glens unfold
Where streams of running water bid me drink
I’d give away my treasure just to hold
A valley where a man can stop to think

I know I’ll see those peaks inside my dream
And taste the special waters of the stream
