Lost on the moors

A haunting cry has called me to the moor
As though a friend was asking for my aid
The sound was cold and chilled me to the core
And yet its summons had to be obeyed

The mists concealed path that I would take
And muffled all the clues about the voice
In fog and dark I made a last mistake
And never will I have another choice

The mocking cry has lured me to my doom
And now my cries call others to the night
Be sure you stay in safety in your room
The moors are not for you without the light

The sounds you hear are not a mortal scream
They’re products of my long accursed dream
