Lucky colours

Her skin
was exactly
the colour of
Thornton’s toffee

Her hair was black
and her eyes
were always
full of fun

And she almost always
wore white

Years later
I was kissed
by a tiny redhead
with a laugh
in all she said
and a white mini-dress

The girl in the white mini
smiled sweetly
and agreed to a drink
we met at the bar
my suit contrasting
with her crisp white shirt

And now I see
a white tee shirt
white socks
and a wave

I love white girls
