Days

There are days when the world isn’t frayed at the edges
  And people remember your name
These are days when your friends all come good on their pledges
And nobody thinks it’s a shame
There are days you wake to the smiles and the birdsong
And days when the clouds fly away
When the radio plays you’re alert by the third song
And know you have something to say

Other days, like today, are much greyer and bleaker
And sadness has leaked all around
And those are the days when the love seems much weaker
And these are the days I have found
Give me time and I know that my smile will be broader
And sadness will give me a miss
I just have to dig for you see I’m a  hoarder
And I can remember your kiss

Give me days special days when you say that you love me
And I can face anything more
On those days when there’s nothing but blue sky above me
And nothing but laughter in store
I can think of the days in my mind or the future
And know you will want us to meet
I’ll tack on such dreams to today with a suture
And then everything will be sweet
