Inside the trunk inside

In my head you’ll find a trunk
Piled high with all my junk
All my life is in that crate
In a highly muddled state

All my dreams and hopes and fears
Detritus of advancing years
My children and my childhood too
Joined with an unbreaking glue

Passions high and lusts so low
In that sea-chest stowed below
Everything I’ve seen or done
All my work and all my fun

But there is space for so much more
I’ll never fill it, I am sure
Whatever’s past I’ll keep and treasure
While always after yet more pleasure
