The only thing to quench our thirsts is drink
And only food to stave off hunger pangs
I think we only had our thoughts to think
And only metal strips for making clangs
I always find I’m speaking in my voice
I really want to have a better choice

Author notes

I have a contest running to the prompt “Cast adrift in an open boat, with only the sea to keep them afloat”
