Missed opportunities

Tiny silver flakes
flutter gently downwards
beneath a deep grey umbrella
broken
by a platinum-white glow

A single moonbeam
streaming down
catches the sparse snowflakes
and for just a moment
there is all the magic
in the world
right here

I am too late
my wish coincides
with the cloud reforming

the moon is gone
the spell
is broken
and so
I go
to
bed.
