A river of rubies and pearls ripples towards the horizon
shimmering in the darkness past islands of amber

The traffic snarls angrily on a cold dark night
drivers cursing at coned off lanes

A ghostly grin flashes through dark curtains
that toss across the skylights of the world

A harsh wind throws clouds across the crescent moon
hiding the night sky under threats of snow

Tall soldiers stand guard at the banks
gaunt against the flickering fires of the fairy folk

Bare trees stand as harsh reminders of winter
against the lights of farms and villages

And both in dreams and traffic jams
I want a cup of tea.
