A rose delights my senses every night
Beneath the stars that serenade the moon
The silky feel as petals spread delight
And buds will bloom to splendour very soon

A gardener will treat each bush with care
And choose the finest bloom above the rest
For beauty may be born for man to share
While keeping to oneself the very best

While tender beauty must distract the eye
The nectar of the rose delights the bee
A scent that’s sent to show she is not shy
Is all it needs to draw the bloom to me

The secret’s in the way you tend the rose
Rewards are for the gardener who knows
