The Uncertainty Principle

Uncertainty’s bound to confuse
And nothing is all that is seems
You cannot know all you must choose
And Heisenberg saw it in dreams
        A particle’s really a wave
At least when it’s pushed to extremes
        Predictions are really quite brave
And Heisenberg saw it in dreams
Position and speed are combined
That’s one of the physical themes
You have to keep that in your mind
And Heisenberg saw it in dreams
        Uncertainty’s bound to confuse
And Heisenberg saw it in dreams

Author notes

The Heisenberg uncertainty principle states that we cannot know everything about a particle, in particular that the momentum and position are interlinked and the more accurately you know one the less accurately you know the other.

This is at the root of a lot of important advances in quantum mechanics etc.
