The perfect gift

In silent deeds a lover’s instinct shows
He has to act on everything he knows
Her lover knew the route to her delight
Was hidden in a single midnight rose

The bloom is red yet darker than the night
And all her dreams are held within the sight
The scent as well could carry her away
It’s velvet touch has sent her into flight

She runs to him with loving words to say
And kisses that suggest her heart’s at play
The rose told her his love was strong and true
She wants to be with him on every day

The payment for the rose has fallen due
In currency no man can misconstrue
And every day the value of it grows
The deep red rose bade loneliness adieu
