Lazy blue

The morning sky is drenched in lazy blue
With powderpuffs of promise here and there
I wake from dreams of making love to you
To find that spring’s cascading everywhere

The blackbird and his hen construct their nest
Inside a bush that’s dressed herself in white
The sparrow gang attack an arch with zest
While unpaired starling yobs prepare to fight

The evidence of love is all around
So why are you and I so far apart
The cherry trees spread blossom on the ground
Like snowflakes gently brushing on my heart

Now underneath a flood of lazy blue
I’m wide awake and still I dream of you
