On the days …

On the days you aren’t around me I forget where I should be,
Like a bus without a driver or a boat adrift at sea.
Till I feel you back beside me, when I settle in a sigh;
If I thought that you would leave me then the best of me would die.

If I cannot sense your presence there is nothing I can write,
Cannot concentrate in daylight, cannot sleep in bed at night.
You are always in my daydreams where emotions boil and seethe,
If you are not there to hold me there’s no reason I should breathe.

Now I’m lying back beside you, where you sit inside my mind
I am smiling like a schoolboy with a chocolate egg to find.
When I close my eyes to kiss you, then I’m certain you are there
You are mine, my love, to treasure, please stay with me everywhere.
