Every morning he would stop to buy a rose
It took a little longer every day.
He told her of his nows and long agos
While in his heart he heard her music play.

One day he bought a second rose for her
To feel that she was there on his lapel.
In her mind she found a love begin to stir
Like an angel gently ringing on a bell.

His birthday and she planned a sweet surprise –
A cake with candles and a special rose.
The biggest gift she gave was in her eyes
A look of love designed to curl his toes.

Today she grows the roses he will wear –
In the garden that the two of them now share.
