Outside the sun is shining but I’m sad.
I love the fresh green leaves that deck the trees,
These flapjacks are the best I’ve ever had
But something has my mood down on its knees.

It’s not as though I’m sitting here in tears,
Or thinking I should jump beneath a train.
I’m better off than almost all my peers
But there is something I cannot explain.

I laugh at jokes and see the funny side
Of all the foolishness that’s part of me.
This afternoon I really want to hide
Until a touch of magic sets me free.

Don’t want to win, but HELL! I hate to lose.
Perhaps that’s why I’m stuck inside the blues.
