He built our tongue so he could tell his tales
Of politics and love in history
Throughout his works his genius unveils
The way to weave a touch of mystery
In comedies he taunted men of power
And raised a laugh to boost our men at war
His histories were tuned into the hour
When Kings and Queens would need to know the score
The Bard showed all mankind a playwright’s worth
Made English poetry a noble art
The greatest writer ever on this Earth
Gave simple men the words to win a heart
To be or not to be his hero mused
Was language ever more succinctly used?
