Dark days

When madness tears the peace out from a heart
So love is lost in visions full of night
Then all you’ve built is doomed to fall apart
And there’s a chance that you will lose the fight

A clouded mind can not see simple truth
Through beds of thorns and life’s unkindly fog
When pain and illness take away your youth
Such tragedies are not a sweet prologue

And fools like me make sufferings much worse
Unthinking words can rend a fragile mind
Who thinks of such when working on a verse
That can be read as harsh instead of kind

What’s left to do when all’s so far away
But hope in hell there’ll be another day
