Without a fight

The tritons never show a hint of fear
On guard in case the Kraken should awake
Each swordfish daily polishes his spear

A sailor always knows his doom is near
And can’t afford to make the least mistake
The tritons never show a hint of fear

The sharks obey the messages they hear
The oceans are the prize they aim to take
Each swordfish daily polishes his spear

But evil’s not the force of yesteryear
When titans roar the mountains do not shake
The tritons never show a hint of fear

It seems no leaders want to volunteer
The demons of the deep now start to quake
Each swordfish daily polishes his spear

The outcome of the struggle being clear
Without a fight the Kraken’s armies break
The tritons never show a hint of fear
Each swordfish daily polishes his spear

Author notes

NOT for judging!!!

I’m one of the judges but I wanted to join in the fun, a villanelle with a loose bow towards my own poem The Trident of the Tritons
