Shadows in a Darkened Room

She thought she heard his footsteps on the floor
As midnight fell in shadows on the bed
The hinges creaked and then she heard no more

She posed herself just how he would adore
A tingling excitement in her head
She thought she heard his footsteps on the floor

And held her breath for what would be in store
The new horizons where her dreams had lead
The hinges creaked and then she heard no more

His kisses always left her feeling sore
She’d never ask for tenderness instead
She thought she heard his footsteps on the floor

Tonight she would surrender to amour
In giving way her inhibitions fled
The hinges creaked and then she heard no more

There’d never been a love like his before
A lover who left every conquest dead
She thought she heard his footsteps on the floor
The hinges creaked and then she heard no more
