Another bloody day!

There was a time when birthdays came
With loads and loads of toys
I never thought that I should blame
The other girls and boys
And then they brought a lake of booze
And lips that I could kiss
More silly games than I could use
A day awash with bliss
In time my birthdays meant my kids
A day to rest and smile
Until this idyll hit the skids
In most unpleasant style
I have to put my glasses on
Before I read a book
And pretty girls too quickly gone
Before I get a look
My left knee aches I’m rather round
My hair’s no longer black
My stomach makes a lot of sound
When spicy foods attack
So fuck the lot of them I say
This birthday glee brigade
It’s just another bloody day
When dreams will be betrayed
