I want my forty years

A misty haze of sleepy eyes
The timbre of your voice
The eerie sound of barn owl cries
It’s time to make a choice

The roses that I used to hold
Seem sad and far away
Beside the prize I want to fold
Inside my arms today

When life is harder every time
How can we carry on
Surrender’s not a dreadful crime
When life appears a con

But far away I’ll hold you tight
However it appears
So don’t give up on life tonight
I want my forty years
