Sanctuary

So far away from day to day
From people, fuss and fight
Tranquillity that’s hassle free
It’s perfect day or night

A gentle breeze sets me at ease
It’s never hot or cold
One moment there and everywhere
Is tinged with fairy gold

The grass is soft and high aloft
A hawk is on patrol
He’ll never miss a threat to this
The sanctum of my soul

An ice-cold stream flows through this dream
And feeds a coal-black lake
Whose mirror face reflects all space
A gift no hand can take

I close my eyes and hear the sighs
No other heart can find
My sanctuary is tourist free
It’s here, inside my mind …
