Mountain tops

Crystal clear and sharp and clean
A wooded slope so dark and green
Across an English Lakeland scene
And the mountain tops

A narrow path that wanders down
Through a bog of green and brown
Heading for some distant town
Away from mountain tops

Far above a falcon stoops
Just below a rowan droops
Bright clad walkers in small groups
Head for mountain tops

A grey blue lake of rarest hue
A sheep dog trails a wandering ewe
And everything is fresh and new
From these mountain tops

Crystal clear and sharp and clean
All these things that I have seen
When I’m standing so serene
On my mountain tops
