Summer showers

Damn that rain!

She laughed at him
holding his briefcase
over his head.

Her umbrella kept her dry
kept her t-shirt white
and let her hair bounce.

The rain ran
past the case
inside his suit
under his collar
into his heart.

And she laughed!

A sound of sunlight
and infectious.

He laughed too
put down the case
and shrugged.
Too wet already
what difference could more rain make?

And then

she furled the umbrella …
