Can there be thoughts if you are on your own?
Who hears your heart without a friend inside?
Although I love to see the world alone,
There’s something else that used to be denied.

You’re there with me to see a different way,
You turn the stones where I’m content to sit.
Although you’re “night” whenever I am “day”,
It’s differences that make a perfect fit.

I cannot write without an empty chair
And leaving space for you to intervene.
I always take you with me everywhere,
So you have also seen the things I’ve seen.

The world was not the way that it now seems
Till you became conductor of my dreams.
