When

When there’s moonlight and it’s raining
When there’s laughter in the air
When old ladies stop complaining
Then I know you’re there, somewhere

When there’s birdsong in the morning
When there’s still a slice of cake
When I’ve almost finished yawning
Then there can’t be a mistake

When the wind’s like angels breathing
When there’s toast and jam for tea
When the stew has finished seething
Then I know you’re near to me

When I wake up feeling ready
When I fall asleep at night
When the beat is slow and steady
Then I know it’s true all right

When I want to know the reason
When the answer’s in my hand
When the kissing’s still in season
    Then I’m sure to understand

That you’ll always be here near me
That you’re better than sliced bread
That you’ll be the one to steer me
When you’re here inside my head
