Nothing Home

Last night I couldn’t think of what to write
And so I wrote about a cup of tea
My mind is still a blank again tonight
No poetry to set my spirit free

And as I sit my mind remains a blank
No muse to use no whispers in my ears
I’ve fished for words and found an empty tank
No spark that shines and quickly disappears

Tomorrow night I’ll bet I’ll overflow
I’ll not have time to type my verses down
But until then there’s not a thing to show
Just foolishness above a hollow frown

I don’t approve of days that end this way
I want a head that’s full of words at play
