Do you sit and ignore a blank screen
That sneers when you’ve nothing to write
Or swear like a drunken marine
At acres of undisturbed white
I’ve used both approaches at times
When nothing I’m thinking of rhymes

I’ve checked all the contests are bland
That no-one has notions to share
And stared at the back of my hand
In case there was something new there
But nothing’s igniting the fuse
That’s used for exploding my muse

Author notes

I refuse not to write something each day, but sometimes I’m close to trying to make a shopping list seem poetic.
