You kissed me

Sitting very quietly, crossword on my mind
I didn’t know that you were there, approaching from behind.
A tap upon my shoulder, I turn, your lips meet mine.
A taste of sweet perfection, with a hint of dry white wine.
You sink down upon my lap, my lips and yours don’t part
I only hear your breathing and the beating of my heart.
Arms go round my shoulders, mine around your waist.
For the first time in my life, I know the way you taste.
Tongues on teeth, and lips on lips, what can you taste on me?
I had chicken for my lunch, and then a lot of tea
Our breathing now is synchronised, the world has gone away
The only other thought I have, is hoping that you’ll stay
But tenderly you pull away, to end my sweet surprise
Then, unaware that they were closed, I open up my eyes
And see the smiling face that just kissed me.
