A Change of Climate

A Change of Climate

It used to be that winter’s frosts and snows
Would herald springtime showers and gentle breeze.
As time goes by it seems confusion grows
And winter rarely beats a gentle tease.
Now summer seems a time for drizzling rain
To follow from unseasonable heat
A picnic needs at least three days of strain
To find the perfect underwater eat.
Then Autumn winds will stay away for weeks
The Sun beats down once holidays are done
We can’t predict the ways each season leaks
Except to say no changes favour fun
Too many storms, flash floods replacing drought
While lockdown means that no-one’s going out!
