A long slow lazy afternoon

To walk alone along the life I’ve lead
Past memories discarded long ago
The hopes and dreams of places fill my head
And I survey their beauty as I go

A peaceful way to spend an afternoon
Walking down the lanes within my mind
The subtle light of recollection’s moon
Shines softly on the treasures that I find

The time we take enjoying how we were
Is time well spent preparing for the day
You give the pool of memories a stir
So they can settle down a different way

And for today I’m happy just to be
Tomorrow I’ll return to being me
Author notes
Having worked long hours every day for the last 3 weeks, including all of
Christmas I am having a very lazy day.
