A Politician’s Song

The law is always sacrosanct and has to be obeyed,
When we are feeling righteous that’s the way the game is played,
But when we’re caught out cheating we will sing a different song;
“A bit of dodgy dealing isn’t really all that wrong
The law’s the law and that is that; for others, not for us
So please don’t pry and peek about and never make a fuss!
A promise is a promise and must always be fulfilled –
You failed in some you offered so you must be evil willed.
Yes we failed too but really that cannot be called the same,
We never meant to keep ours, your naivety’s to blame.
A politician’s word is law and ours are always right
And all of those you utter aren’t!” That’s all from me – goodnight!
