A Ray of Hope

Last night I slept as though the World was working,
The Moon and stars were settled into place,
And in my dreams I found no demons lurking;
An angel wore a smile upon her face.

It’s been a while since I could brave my pillow,
When skies are dark your thoughts can be the same,
But maybe minds are tough as well aged willow,
It’s not too late to try to win the game.

The years ahead still promise stormy weather
But now I know there will be sunny days —
We’re strong enough to ride the road together
And smart enough to navigate the maze.

It’s time to shed the woes of yesterday
And search our hearts to find a better way.
