Some heartless soul has pinched my mug
My tea is not the same
I have to find the fiendish thug
The criminal to blame
I now can’t judge the milk just right
The words I used were impolite
I now can’t judge
I now can’t judge
If I should cry or stand and fight

Some heartless soul has pinched my mug
I’ve searched all around the place
If I accuse they’ll simply shrug
And turn a guileless face
But I can not enjoy my tea
While someone keeps my mug from me
But I can not
But I can not
Ignore the this act of infamy

Some heartless soul has pinched my mug
They also pinched the spoon
They left me with teapot and jug
I bet they’ll pinch those soon
It’s hard to face the working day
When such a friend has gone astray
It’s hard to face
It’s hard to face
A life that’s lived this way!

Author notes
The Trijan Refrain, created by Jan Turner, consists of three 9-line stanzas,
for a total of 27 lines.
Line 1 is the same in all three stanzas, although a variation of the form is
not to repeat the same line
at the beginning of each stanza. In other words, the beginning line of each
stanza can be different.
The first four syllables of line 5 in each stanza are repeated as the double-
refrain for lines 7 and 8.
The Trijan Refrain is a rhyming poem with a set meter and rhyme scheme as
follows:

Rhyme scheme: a/ b /a /b /c /c /R /R /c

Meter: 8/6/8/6/8/8/4,4 refrain/8

Oh and it’s a true story, if you have my mug can I have it back please?
