A Thought For The Day

A speaker says “Believe me” he’s a liar
As certain as the sun comes up each day
Do not be shocked to see his pants on fire
As he lets falsehoods carry him away
Not honest man has ever said “Believe Me”
It’s worse than “My best friends are jews or black”
Few other words are more incline to peeve me
And strive to save our language from attack
So I shan’t say “believe me” just start looking
Whenever anybody picks that phrase
I’ll bet ten quid you’ll soon find books a-cooking
And simple truths directed through a maze
Can you guess who has said those words today?
There’s really nothing more that I can say …
