After the Rain

The clear blue sky that follows rain
Can change my point of view
The blackbird’s here to entertain
And turn my thoughts to you
The clean wet smell that fills the air
Relieves my stressful day
I sense renewal everywhere
Although you’re far away
The hint of peach that warms the gold
That fills the western sky
Brings me the dreams I’ll always hold
Until I have to die
The waning crescent high above
That waits for stars to shine
Has brought your promises of love
And now can give you mine
I love to walk in summer showers
To feel the world renew
And sunsets after cold grey hours
Belong to me and you
