Amongst the thorns

A single rose grows in a bed of thorns
Alone it shines with beauty all can see
The weeds resent the love the flower spawns
And won’t consent to let the rose grow free

There are a few who know where she is hid
And they may try to cut the thorns away
These supplicants get closer on each bid
Will they arrive in time to save the day

The gardener has found the rose at last
And works to keep the spreading weeds in check
The danger to the bush has not yet passed
But I believe that there will be no wreck

Show passion for the place where beauty grows
Soon everyone will see my Texas Rose
