An Alaskan poet.

Half a world away it’s also spring
And poets look out on a brand new scene
Sweet flowers bloom and birds are on the wing
Alaska changes coat from white to green

In modern times the world is rather small
And I have friends who see each tiny part
Between us we can know about it all
And try to put it down in this our art

Five hundred times you’ve given us your mind
And painted with a brush of liquid words
So now take breath I think that you should find
A little time to gaze at plants and birds

Then when you are refreshed, you know the score
Take up your pen and write five hundred more!
